Apply: Stanford AI in Healthcare Leadership & Strategy Program (May–June 2026)

About

ARISE is an interdisciplinary research network evaluating the role of artificial intelligence (AI) for healthcare implementation.

Historical computing system used in early research

ARISE is on a mission to ensure that AI entering healthcare is safe for clinicians and patients.

About

Founded in 2024 as a collaboration between clinicians and researchers across different academic medical centers, ARISE is a research network focused on evaluating clinical AI through real-world studies, open benchmarks, and reproducible methods.

Belief

We believe AI has the potential to advance patient care, by helping physicians with their workflow, expediting time to diagnoses, and finding new therapies. We also believe in doing this right. Before implementation into healthcare systems, clinical AI requires rigorous validation and testing, through real-world studies, making our methods and evaluations transparent, and maintaining open benchmarks to ensure we hold ourselves accountable.

Methodology

Our network runs multi-center studies, including randomized controlled trials (the gold standard in medicine), to test how these systems perform across different healthcare workflows and settings. We release our benchmarks and methods openly, so others can build on what we learn.

Here, we ask the hard questions.

  • How can we use AI to meaningfully help us?
  • What does good reasoning look like for AI systems?
  • Where do they fail?
  • How should we measure safety, reliability, and usefulness?
